Things to Remember After Your Crown and Bridge Appointments

Crowns and bridges usually take a couple of appointments to complete. The teeth are prepared during your first appointment while temporary crowns or bridges are placed to provide protection to your teeth. This happens when a custom restoration is being made.

It is normal for you to feel numbness on your lips, teeth, and tongue for several hours when anesthetic has been applied. It is suggested to not chew until the numbness is completely gone.

There are times temporary crowns come off. Please do call us when this happens, and keep the temporary so we can re-cement it. Bear in mind that the proper fit of your final restoration requires your temporaries stay in place.

After each appointment, you may feel some hot, cold, and pressure sensitivity and these are all normal. You will also experience gum soreness for a few days. Just rinse three times a day with warm salt water (a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water, rinse-swish-spit) to reduce pain and swelling. You can also use medication as directed.

Avoid eating sticky foods (especially gum) and hard foods to help keep your temporary in place. Chew only on the opposite side of your mouth when possible. Brush your teeth the normal way but floss very carefully and remove the floss from the side to prevent the temporary from coming off.

Please call our office if you experience bites that are uneven and persistent pain.

I don’t really write reviews, but I had such a great experience with this dental office from start to finish that I felt I had to share. My first appointment was with Dr. Khan, and she was so kind, and Bella was amazing as well! I was then sent over to Dr. Jay for oral surgery, and I have really bad dental anxiety. Dr. Jay and his team were so kind and caring the day of my surgery. They made sure I was okay, reassured me, and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Melissa was also amazing and constantly checked in on me and answered any questions I had before and after surgery. Usually, I feel like surgeons can be very straightforward and not as personable, but Dr. Jay was the complete opposite. He was so patient, kind, and took the time to listen. You can truly tell he loves what he does, and that same kindness comes from everyone in the office. You don’t feel like just another patient or a number. Everyone is so welcoming, and there are smiles everywhere, which is honestly hard to find in dental offices or even medical offices. I will definitely be recommending Dr. Jay and his team to my family and friends! ❤️

★☆☆☆☆ I canceled my appointment because I was extremely disappointed with the pricing, the lack of transparency, and the way this situation was handled. Before scheduling, I specifically asked for the most basic deep cleaning price and what my out-of-pocket cost would be. I was quoted a base price of $2,088. Since another dental office quoted me around $1,600 for the same basic deep cleaning, I asked why there was such a large difference. I was told over the phone that the higher price was because this office uses numbing gel instead of traditional local anesthesia with a needle. They said they would explain everything more clearly when I came in. However, when I arrived and asked how much the numbing gel actually cost, I was told it was only $88. If I chose the traditional needle anesthesia instead, the price only dropped to approximately $1,980. That still left a difference of more than $300 compared with another office for what appeared to be the same basic deep cleaning, and nobody was able to clearly explain or justify that difference. I also found out that laser treatment was not included in the original price. I was told it would cost an additional $140 per quadrant because my insurance would not cover it. This would have increased my out-of-pocket amount from approximately $444 to more than $700. Before coming in, I believed the higher quoted price already included some type of additional treatment or benefit. Instead, I learned that laser treatment would cost even more on top of an already significantly higher base price. They also refused to perform my regular cleaning and told me they could not clean even the visible surface buildup unless I first agreed to the deep cleaning. I understand that a dentist may recommend periodontal treatment based on a patient’s condition, but other dental offices do provide appropriate regular or limited cleaning services depending on the circumstances. I was not comfortable being given the impression that my only option was to accept this office’s much more expensive treatment plan. Every dental office has the right to set its own prices, but patients also deserve clear, consistent, and honest explanations before taking time off work and coming to an appointment. In my experience, the quoted prices kept changing, the additional charges were not clearly disclosed from the beginning, and the large difference between this office and other providers was never adequately explained. The overall experience made me feel that the focus was more on increasing the treatment cost than helping me understand my options and receive appropriate care. I found the pricing practices aggressive, confusing, and unnecessarily expensive. After two visits and multiple conversations, I still did not receive a reasonable explanation or any meaningful effort to resolve the issue. For those reasons, I lost confidence in this office and decided to seek treatment elsewhere.
