Chipped Tooth Repair

Your teeth are remarkably resilient, capable of withstanding substantial pressure and even some impact without sustaining damage. However, when the exterior of a tooth becomes chipped or cracked, it is crucial to address the issue promptly. Quick repair is essential to prevent decay or infection from entering the interior of the tooth and causing further complications. Our experienced dental team at Buford Family Dental can repair broken, cracked or chipped teeth to protect the beauty and health of your smile with general dentistry.

Expert Dental Repair at Buford Family Dental

Our experienced dental team near you at Buford Family Dental in Buford, GA, specializes in repairing broken, cracked, or chipped teeth. Utilizing advanced techniques in general dentistry, we aim to restore and protect the beauty and health of your smile. Here’s how we ensure your teeth remain strong and healthy:

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Our dental professionals thoroughly examine the extent of the damage to your tooth to determine the most appropriate treatment.
  • Advanced Repair Techniques: We use the latest dental technology and materials to repair chips and cracks, ensuring a seamless and durable restoration.
  • Preventive Care: By addressing minor damage promptly, we help prevent more serious issues that can arise if the tooth is left untreated.

The Importance of Dental Enamel

The enamel, or outer covering of your teeth, is the hardest substance in the human body, even surpassing bone in strength. Its primary function is to handle the pressure of chewing and protect the “live” inner portion of the tooth. When the enamel is cracked or chipped, this critical protection is compromised, leading to potential risks:

  • Bacterial Infiltration: Cracks and chips can allow bacteria to penetrate the enamel and reach the softer pulp inside the tooth, causing decay and infection.
  • Internal Damage: If left untreated, the internal damage can lead to painful abscesses, infected teeth, and severe dental issues requiring more invasive treatments.

The Consequences of Untreated Damage

Ignoring chipped or cracked teeth can result in significant oral health problems:

  • Abscesses: These painful, pus-filled infections can develop in the tooth root or gums, leading to severe discomfort and swelling.
  • Infected Teeth: Infection within the tooth can spread, causing further damage and increasing the risk of needing root canal therapy.
  • Tooth Extraction: In extreme cases, when the damage is too severe, extraction may be the only option to prevent further complications.

Repairs to Cracked or Broken Teeth

Small chips and cracks in your teeth can often be repaired quickly and efficiently. Our skilled dental team at Buford Family Dental uses advanced techniques to restore the outer portion of the tooth. Minor chips can be filled with composite resin, which matches the color of your natural teeth for a seamless look. Dental bonding, which involves applying a tooth-colored resin, can also repair chips and cracks, providing both strength and aesthetic appeal.

Addressing Larger Cracks and Broken Teeth

For more extensive damage, our dental professionals at Buford Family Dental are equipped to perform comprehensive repairs to restore your tooth’s function and appearance. When significant portions of the tooth are damaged, large fillings can rebuild the structure and prevent further deterioration. For more substantial cracks, bonding can reinforce the tooth and protect against future damage. In cases where the tooth is severely broken or cracked, a dental crown may be necessary. Crowns cover the entire tooth, offering robust protection and restoring its full functionality.

Importance of Timely Dental Repairs

Catching and repairing tooth damage promptly is crucial in preventing more extensive oral health problems. Timely intervention matters because small chips and cracks can worsen over time if left untreated, leading to more serious issues that require complex and costly treatments. Damaged teeth are more susceptible to bacterial infiltration, which can cause decay, infection, and even abscesses if not addressed quickly. Prompt repairs help maintain the structural integrity of the tooth, ensuring it remains strong and functional.

Benefits of Early Repairs

Repairing chips and cracks before they lead to more damage offers several benefits. Addressing minor issues early can prevent the need for expensive and invasive dental procedures in the future. Maintaining the integrity of your teeth helps ensure overall oral health and reduces the risk of complications. Knowing that your teeth are in optimal condition allows you to enjoy your daily activities without worry.

I don’t really write reviews, but I had such a great experience with this dental office from start to finish that I felt I had to share. My first appointment was with Dr. Khan, and she was so kind, and Bella was amazing as well! I was then sent over to Dr. Jay for oral surgery, and I have really bad dental anxiety. Dr. Jay and his team were so kind and caring the day of my surgery. They made sure I was okay, reassured me, and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Melissa was also amazing and constantly checked in on me and answered any questions I had before and after surgery. Usually, I feel like surgeons can be very straightforward and not as personable, but Dr. Jay was the complete opposite. He was so patient, kind, and took the time to listen. You can truly tell he loves what he does, and that same kindness comes from everyone in the office. You don’t feel like just another patient or a number. Everyone is so welcoming, and there are smiles everywhere, which is honestly hard to find in dental offices or even medical offices. I will definitely be recommending Dr. Jay and his team to my family and friends! ❤️

★☆☆☆☆ I canceled my appointment because I was extremely disappointed with the pricing, the lack of transparency, and the way this situation was handled. Before scheduling, I specifically asked for the most basic deep cleaning price and what my out-of-pocket cost would be. I was quoted a base price of $2,088. Since another dental office quoted me around $1,600 for the same basic deep cleaning, I asked why there was such a large difference. I was told over the phone that the higher price was because this office uses numbing gel instead of traditional local anesthesia with a needle. They said they would explain everything more clearly when I came in. However, when I arrived and asked how much the numbing gel actually cost, I was told it was only $88. If I chose the traditional needle anesthesia instead, the price only dropped to approximately $1,980. That still left a difference of more than $300 compared with another office for what appeared to be the same basic deep cleaning, and nobody was able to clearly explain or justify that difference. I also found out that laser treatment was not included in the original price. I was told it would cost an additional $140 per quadrant because my insurance would not cover it. This would have increased my out-of-pocket amount from approximately $444 to more than $700. Before coming in, I believed the higher quoted price already included some type of additional treatment or benefit. Instead, I learned that laser treatment would cost even more on top of an already significantly higher base price. They also refused to perform my regular cleaning and told me they could not clean even the visible surface buildup unless I first agreed to the deep cleaning. I understand that a dentist may recommend periodontal treatment based on a patient’s condition, but other dental offices do provide appropriate regular or limited cleaning services depending on the circumstances. I was not comfortable being given the impression that my only option was to accept this office’s much more expensive treatment plan. Every dental office has the right to set its own prices, but patients also deserve clear, consistent, and honest explanations before taking time off work and coming to an appointment. In my experience, the quoted prices kept changing, the additional charges were not clearly disclosed from the beginning, and the large difference between this office and other providers was never adequately explained. The overall experience made me feel that the focus was more on increasing the treatment cost than helping me understand my options and receive appropriate care. I found the pricing practices aggressive, confusing, and unnecessarily expensive. After two visits and multiple conversations, I still did not receive a reasonable explanation or any meaningful effort to resolve the issue. For those reasons, I lost confidence in this office and decided to seek treatment elsewhere.
